Kick It 2009 - Germany In August 2009, 5 players from Pembroke Athleta Womens Team - Brenda Cutajar, Alexia Baldacchino, Melanie Chircop, LeeAnne Wood and Lara Shireen Khan headed off to Leipzig in Germany for a 12 day memorable football training camp and an intercultural learning experience. The camp also had players from Jordan, Algeria, Palestine, Bulgaria and of course Germany. During their stay there, they participated in Football training sessions held by Kathrin Bunners and assisted by Nadja beck and also a one time session with ex-German national team player Britta Carlson. Apart from football, this football camp included Intercultural training sessions, in which the players from all countries mixed together and through various activities got to know each other and learnt about each others cultures and religions. Included in this 12 days was a 1 day trip to Dresden, a friendly game vs Postspielverien Leipzig e.v (Kick it team won :D ), Presentations and food from each country, and also a tournament at the end of the 12 days! Some of the players also enjoyed an hour of canoeing/kayaking in one of the rivers, an afternoon at the Amazonia exhibition, a trip to the zoo and many an afternoon filled with laughter. At the end of this experience, the players all gained many new friends from different walks of life, new training experiences and memories that will last a lifetime.
Players comments: seeing is insight, insight is change... Photo's of this amazing experience will be uploaded soon.
